Tyler Shields 'Collisions' Exhibition

'Colisions' was created by Tyler Shields, the pretty well known celebrity and artsy photographer in LA. Shields says his pieces are created using no photoshop or double exposure, but by taking one photo on top of another photo. Pretty incredible.

And Shields decided to pull an equally incredible and ballsy stunt at his showing. See his gun on fire as he took aim and shot a man in uniform and bullet proof vest? Thank God he didn't miss.

Project Ethos

Got some tickets to experience this Project Ethos thing...music, art, fashion event. Kind of scattered but there was some amazing art there. Somehow events at the House of Blues are always kind of awkward.

Highlight -- all of the artists were there, alongside their work. Got to meet some creative minds.

Fallen Princesses

Vancouver photographer Dina Goldstein has put a modern and not so fairy tale twist on some of the most famous Disney princesses. "I began to imagine Disney's perfect princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me," Goldstein said, "such as illness, addiction and self-image issues." The photos are intense.

There are 2 more to be shot for this series which is going on exhibit on Oct. 15, 2009.

Ashes and Snow

Ashes and Snow is an ongoing project by Gregory Colbert. The exhibition consists of more than 50 large-scale photographic artworks, a 60-minute feature film, and two short film haikus.

The photographic artworks are outstanding. Mind you, NONE of these are imposed photos. They are all authentic, and it took Colbert 10 years to capture these images. The earth-tone photographs are printed on Japanese handmade paper. They are no captions, because it matters little how or when or where the photographs were taken. They are simply windows to a world in which silence and patience govern time. AMAZING.

There is even a beautiful soundtrack on the website.

To date, more than nine and a half million people around the world have visited the exhibition. Ashes and Snow is the most attended exhibition by a living artist in history.

The show will open next in Brazil in 2009. Additional venues are said to be planned in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
